80 000 Trees, How do we get there?

Date:

Tue, Jan 21st, 2025 to Sat, Mar 8th, 2025

Time:

6:00 pm

Description:

Learn about the new parks that are being envisioned in our communities, and what we, as community members, can do to help reach this critical and ambitious tree planting goal.

Kelowna's 2024 Sustainable Urban Forest Strategy recommends that 80,000 trees be planted by 2050. What do we need to know about the practical side of reaching this goal? What challenges may we face achieving this target, and what strategies can we take to ensure the wellbeing of all of the trees that are planted?

City of Kelowna Parks Department forestry staff will share about how they are approaching this work, what is happening in our local urban forests, how we are responding to climate and community wellbeing imperatives, and how our communities are taking leadership in various aspects along the way.
