ARTIST DETAILS
The Strumbellas (Toronto, Ontario)
The six-piece collective may have rocketed to mainstream success two years ago with their breakthrough hit "Spirits," but have always been thinking one step ahead.
"Spirits" became a runaway hit for The Strumbellas, hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart and cracking the international market in countries including Germany, Italy and France. In 2017, they won the iHeartRadio Music award for Best New Alternative Rock Artist of the Year, and collected the JUNO Award for Single of the Year.
Ruby Waters (Toronto, Ontario)
She received a Juno Award nomination for Alternative Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2022 for If It Comes Down to It. While her music is difficult to slot within genre boxes, Waters' influences range from Led Zeppelin to Rihanna, and you can hear that range in her bold vocal delivery which fuses folk, rock, soul pop and R&B into her music. Waters, of Métis heritage,is from Ontario and has toured with City and Colour, Serena Ryder and Classified.
Reuben and the Dark (Calgary, Alberta)
Reuben and the Dark is a spirited folk-rock outfit whose music blends introspective lyrics with the irrepressible pulse and complicit harmonies of his band.
Rising from his painterly, ashen lyrics, dancing on a tightrope of exultation, is the beauty of catharsis: the crystallization of psychic resonance between band and audience, shared through music.
The band's penchant for exploring vulnerability through uplifting cinematic intensity makes their live show a transformative experience to remember.
Anyone who has seen Reuben and the Dark perform knows that the bandmates share a palpable bond onstage, creating a heedless energy that reverberates beyond the songs.
Ashleigh Ball (Vancouver, BC)
Ashleigh Ball is a celebrated Canadian musician; best known as the magnetic front woman for Canadian indie pop band Hey Ocean!
Ashleigh's music demonstrates the full range of her vocal abilities both through gripping emotional ballads and electronic and R&B inspired tracks.
Alt rock, indie pop with a little electronic sounds mixed in will be a perfect mood setter for Island Time.
Art d’Ecco (Victoria, BC)
Art d’Ecco is an unapologetic, inclusive rock and roll mystic in a wig and lipstick. Combining the addictive dazzle and rebellious party of his last album, with the dizzying effect of what happens in the late-hours once everyone’s gone home, his new album After the Head Rush arrives like a confessional, chock- full of swagger and disarming candor.
His song ‘Only Ones’ is number 6 at CBC Music behind the likes of Lizzo, Harry Styles, Future Islands.
Windmills (Kelowna, BC)
On a very basic level, windmills convert energy. As an artist, Windmills does much the same thing, taking personal tragedies, triumphs & memories & transforming them into songs dripping with heartbreak & anguish. Windmills is the moniker of multi-instrumentalist pop artist/composer, Cory Myraas. A clever songwriter with strong lyrical command, the words in a Windmills song are always accompanied by a soundscape that tells you how to feel. A genuine one-man show, this is a musician in charge of his craft.
