Findlay Napier Alberta and British Columbia 2020

Top Scottish singer songwriter and dynamite live act Findlay Napier returns to Canada’s west coast for the first time in 10 years in February. Originally from the Scottish Highlands Napier’s recent album Glasgow is a love letter to the city he’s called his home for over 20 years.

Napier’s own song-craft today vibrantly reflects Glasgow’s increasingly rich stylistic melting-pot – a mix he’s played no small part in creating, especially the cross-fertilisation between Scotland’s folk and indie communities, as both co-host of a long-running open-mic night, promoter of the decade-old Hazy Recollections concert series and director of Glasgow Songwriting Festival.

Napier came to prominence as the lead singer and guitarist of Traditional folk quartet Back of the Moon. The band released three albums and toured and taught regularly on Canada’s west coast including performances at Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Mission and Calgary Folk Music festivals.

In 2014 he received a mentoring grant from Creative Scotland to work with Ivor Novello nominated songwriter Boo Hewerdine. Together they wrote VIP: Very Interesting Persons, an album of songs about historical figures with interesting histories. The album was ranked #2 in The Telegraph’s top Folk Albums of 2015. A raconteur and spinner of tall tales in 2018 he was the first solo act to be nominated for Live Act of the Year in the Scot’s Trad Music Awards history.

“I’m very excited to be bringing my show to Alberta and British Columbia. I’ve had so many great times touring the Canada and I’m really looking forward to connecting with old fans and new audiences alike.”
