Global Citizen Events is proud to present the 2021 Artist Eye on the World event - Let Your HeART Speak, a collaborative project that invites community members of all ages to create an original work inspired by one or more of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Global Citizen Events is proud to present the 2021 Artist Eye on the World event - Let Your HeART Speak, a collaborative project that invites
community members of all ages to create an original work inspired by one or more of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
An Artist’s Eye on the World highlights local artists whose work engages heads, hearts, and hands to create dialogue and positive change.
Participants may be paired “virtually” with professional artist mentors who are contributing their expertise - click HERE for a short video introducing the mentors. Entries will be showcased online February, 2021 in a globally
distributed video professionally created by acclaimed videographer Aaron DeSilva.
Let Your HeART Speak is part of Global Citizen Events’ annual initiative to promote the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Global leaders convened to create the 17 Goals in 2015, which incorporate 169 targets to achieve by 2030. The ‘SDGs’ have the power to end poverty, fight inequality and address the urgency of climate change.
As Susan LeBlanc, coordinator of this year’s project, describes it: “The UN
Sustainable Development Goals offer a unique opportunity to engage our creativity, our creative voice for a noble cause, the sustainability of life on our planet.”
“We believe that you become an artist when you see with your heart, not just with your eyes,” says organizer Karen Close. “The Okanagan is a
caring community rich with creative talent and we are excited to share the heARTS of our artists responding to the UN Sustainable Development
Goals,” adds co-organizer Susan LeBlanc.
The project is supported by GECCO (Global Empowerment Coalition of the Central Okanagan), Rotary Centre for the Arts, and the Government of Canada.
Participation is free (own materials supplied). Registration is now open until January 31st, 2021. To participate, register at globalcitizenevents.com/an-artists-eye.
