Event:

Alternator Chat with Jorden & David Doody

Date:

Fri, May 29th, 2020

Time:

2:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Description:

Join artists Jorden & David Doody for a chat about colour, murals and the Uptown Mural Project.

Art is a sign of strength and resilience during times of struggle. Through the creation of works of art we inspire hope in the imagination of others. As artists it is our job to help our communities see past their day to day struggles and dream of a brighter future.

Street Art initiatives and Murals have revitalized urban centers across the country. These open-air public galleries add a splash of colour on to ageing architecture and breathe new life into their surrounding communities. These vibrant and bold contributions to the neighbourhood are celebrated by locals and tourists all year round and are recognized as important sites for contemporary Canadian culture.

The Uptown Mural Project’s mission is to democratize art and revitalize the urban landscape while supporting and improving the cultural, social and economic vitality of the Rutland community. By creating exciting and energetic works of public art we are transforming our community into dynamic open-air Art Galleries. Here residents, both young and old can mix and mingle with tourists, business owners and local professionals.
