5-time Juno Award Winner Julie Masi Presents The 5th Annual Winnipeg Social In Kelowna In Support Of Prostate Cancer Programming In Kelowna
Julie Masi honors her late husband Agostino’s wish for the 5th year in row by hosting another Winnipeg Social in Kelowna. The social is a way to create awareness that screening for Prostate Cancer saves lives and to raise money for supportive programming for those recently diagnosed. Agostino passed away from prostate cancer in 2010.
SOCIALS - A WINNIPEG TRADITION
In Julie's hometown, when you want to raise money for a group that really needs it, you organize a Social! A Social is a long-standing tradition in Manitoba where friends buy tickets to come together in a big hall, dance to live music, eat, drink and have a chance to win donated door prizes all in the name of raising money for a great cause.
Last year Julie sold out her event and raised almost $7,000.00 for Prostate Cancer Programs here in Kelowna. This money supported a 20/20 Support Group Conference, Reef Knot Kits for newly diagnosed patients, print resources and the expansion of the Kelowna’s Prostate Cancer’s Supportive Care Program.
The 5th annual Winnipeg Social in Kelowna will be held on Saturday November 9th at the Parkinson Recreation Centre located at 1800 Parkinson Way in Kelowna. The doors open at 7:30pm for this 19+ event. Live music, dancing and a snack of traditional Manitoba social food is included in the ticket price of $40.00 plus agency fee. Cash Bar. Door prizes. Raffle items including a Winnipeg Jets Jersey and a weekend stay at A Vista Villa Couple’s retreat will help raise money for Prostate programs. It’s going to be a great night of live music with 5-time Juno Award winner Julie Masi, formally with the Parachute Club and her talented Winnipeg musician friends John Delaney, Vicky Nish, Jimmy LeGuilloux, Harvey Kostenchuk, Angela Kelman, John Einarson, as well as special guest Steve Soucy.
